Most people have heard of bicarbonate of soda in terms of baking or cooking (it isn't the same as baking powder) but it is an essential ingredient for making bath bombs. The correct name for the powder is Sodium Bicarbonate. It is a fine white powder which when used with citric acid causes a fizzy reaction when placed in water.
When making bath bombs you use the bicarbonate as your main ingredient. You can mix the same with citric acid to a ratio of 3.1, 2.1 or at the very least 1.1, we find that 2.1 is our preferred ratio using more bicarbonate than citric. So for example if you was using 1000g of bicarbonate you would use 500g of citric acid.
Bicarbonate of Soda does have other househould uses such as it is a fantastic cleaning agent and can absorb smells and odours - you have to google it, there are so many uses for this fab little powder!
We recommend that you store the Bicarb in a cool, dry place and avoid damp environments.
We sell the bicarb in 1k, 10k and 25k packages.
